How I Service Garage Doors in Concord

Most of the garage doors I repair in Concord are the standard steel sectional type. Every once in a while I'll get a call for one of those old one-piece wood tilt-up doors. They're a lot heavier than modern doors, the hardware is outdated, and sometimes the conversation is less about repairing them and more about whether the repair is worth it.

When I come out, I don't just look at the one thing that stopped working. Sometimes a broken spring is just a broken spring. Other times it's been putting extra strain on the opener or causing other parts of the door to wear out faster. That's what I'm trying to figure out when I inspect a door, because I'd rather solve the whole problem than have you dealing with another breakdown a few months later.

Technician repairing a garage door in Concord CA

Garage Door Repair

For doors that are stuck, noisy, off track, hanging unevenly, or not closing properly. I repair broken springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors, and most common garage door issues. Most repairs can be completed the same day because I stock the parts needed for the problems I see most often.

Garage Door Spring Repair

For broken garage door springs, doors that won't lift, or doors that suddenly feel too heavy to open. Most spring replacements are $400 out the door, including both springs, labor, and tax. I carry a variety of springs on my truck, so most repairs can be completed the same day.

Garage Door Opener Repair

For garage door openers that have stopped working, make strange noises, or only work intermittently. Sometimes the opener is the problem, and sometimes it's the door putting extra strain on it. I'll figure out what's causing the issue and let you know whether it makes sense to repair the opener or replace it.

Garage Door Opener Installation

I install and replace garage door openers of any brand, and the units I sell and recommend are LiftMaster — chain, belt, and jackshaft, whichever fits your garage. The price I quote is all-in: the opener, the labor, and the tax; no add-ons after. Every install includes setup, programming, and a full test to make sure everything is working.

Questions I Hear Every Day

Can you give me a price over the phone?

Usually, yes. If you tell me what the door is doing, I can often narrow it down to a few likely causes and give you a rough idea of the cost before I come out. Some problems still need to be inspected in person, but I won't start any work until you know exactly what the repair is going to cost.

Do you work on all types of garage doors?

Just about all of them. Almost every door out there now is a sectional — steel, aluminum, wood, or carriage-style — and I work on all of those. The only exception is the older one-piece wood tilt-up-style doors, the type that swing out as a single slab. Unfortunately, for these types of doors, replacement parts aren't available anymore, so the only real option is to upgrade to a modern sectional. That also usually means a new opener, too and under current California regulations, any new opener has to include a battery backup so the door still works during a power outage. If you've got an older door and aren't sure what you have, give me a call, and I'll tell you your options.

What areas do you serve besides Concord?

I'm based in Concord and cover the surrounding East Bay — Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, Clayton, Martinez, and Pacheco, plus Lafayette and Rossmoor. If you're nearby and not sure, give me a call.
