Garage Door Opener Installation Concord CA

If you're ready for a new garage door opener in Concord, I install three LiftMaster units, and the price I quote is the price you pay — the opener, the labor, and the tax are all included. No add-ons after the fact.

I'll help you pick the one that fits your door and how you use your garage, then install it and program it so it's ready to go before I leave. Whether you're putting an opener on a door that never had one or replacing one that finally gave out, I can take care of it.

Three LiftMaster Openers to Choose From

Every price below is installed and includes the unit, labor, and tax. All three are LiftMaster and come with battery backup, which California law now requires on any opener sold in the state.

Belt Drive LiftMaster 6690L

$1,400 installed

Quieter than a chain drive and loaded with the most features of the three. You get two remotes, a camera on the unit, and a wireless keypad for outside. It's Wi-Fi ready, so you can open and close it from your phone with the MyQ app.

  • Two remotes
  • Camera on the unit
  • Wireless outdoor keypad
  • Wi-Fi / MyQ app
  • Battery backup

Jackshaft Wall-Mount

$1,500 installed

Mounts on the torsion shaft and bolts to the wall, so there's no rail running down the middle of your ceiling. That frees up the overhead space in your garage. It's the quietest of the three, handles heavier doors, and puts less stress on the door. Comes with one remote; cameras and keypads can be added.

  • One remote
  • No center rail — open ceiling
  • Lifts heavier doors
  • Battery backup

Prices include the unit, installation, and tax. Battery backup is included on every unit because California law now requires it.

The Opener I Put on My Own Garage

If you ask me which one I'd choose, it's the jackshaft wall-mount. It's what I have on my own garage, and there's a reason for it.

Because it mounts on the wall instead of hanging from the ceiling, there's no rail running down the middle of the garage. That open overhead space matters if you store tall things or like to move stuff around in there — and it's why I went with it myself.

It also tends to last longer. A rail opener lifts the door; the jackshaft just turns the torsion shaft, so it's doing less work and putting less stress on the door. It's the quietest of the three, and it'll lift a heavier door without straining.

That said, all three are good units. If you've already got a rail opener and the overhead space isn't a concern, a chain or belt drive will serve you just fine. When we talk, I'll point you to the one that actually fits your garage.

Bought Your Own Unit? I'll Install It

If you've already purchased an opener and just need it put in, I install customer-provided units for $500. Keep in mind the prices above are all-in for the unit and the work together, so once you add up a store-bought opener plus the install, going with one of my units often comes out close — but if you've already got one, I'm glad to install it.

Accessories

A few extras you can add to any installation:

  • Interior garage camera — mounts inside the garage so you can keep an eye on things. Around $80–100; ask for current pricing.
  • Keypad with camera — a wireless outdoor keypad with a built-in camera to watch the driveway. Around $80–100; ask for current pricing.
  • Car remote / HomeLink programming — if your car has HomeLink, I can help you program it. Some vehicles are quick; a few take some doing, so there's a small charge for it.

Opener Installation Questions

Which opener should I get?

It comes down to your garage and how you use it. The chain drive is the most affordable and the one most people choose. The belt drive is quieter and comes with the most features — two remotes, a keypad, and the phone app. The jackshaft mounts on the wall and frees up your ceiling, which is the one I'd pick if you want open overhead space or have a heavier door. Tell me about your setup and I'll point you to the right one.

How do I know what kind of opener I have now?

If the motor hangs from the ceiling on a rail running down the middle of the garage, you have a rail opener — either a chain drive or a belt drive. (Screw drives were a third type, but nobody makes those anymore.) If there's no rail and the motor sits on the wall next to the door, that's a jackshaft. Not sure? Describe it to me on the phone and I'll tell you what you've got.

Do all the openers come with battery backup?

Yes. California law now requires battery backup on any garage door opener sold in the state, so every unit I install has it. That means your door still opens during a power outage.

Can you connect it to my phone and my car?

The belt drive is Wi-Fi ready and works with the MyQ app — after I install it, you scan a code on the wall console and it walks you right through setting up your phone. For your car, if it has HomeLink I can help you program it. Most cars are easy; a few are finicky and take a little extra time, so there's a small charge for car programming.

How soon can you install one, and how long does it take?

Installation is usually scheduled out a week or two, since these are planned jobs rather than emergencies. The install itself is typically done in a single visit — I put in the unit, program it, and make sure everything's working before I leave.

Not Sure You Need a New One?

Plenty of openers people think are dead just need a repair — a worn gear, a bad board, or a switch. Before you buy a new unit, it's worth having the old one looked at. See my opener repair page.

Ready for a New Opener?

Give me a call and tell me about your garage — what opener you've got now and how you use the space. I'll walk you through the units that actually fit, give you the all-in price with tax, parts, and installation included, and get you on the schedule. The number I quote is the number you pay.
